One of the best parts of living in California is the road trips. Just an hour and a half from LA, Ojai is one of the easiest and most magical. Last weekend I went on an impromptu pilgrimage to visit the Beatrice Woods Center for the Arts and take in the beauty of Ojai.
Beatrice Wood was an contemporary artist, craftperson and writer born in 1893 in San Francisco and raised in New York. Her work with ceramics and hand crafted glazes is some of the most inspiring to me. Whenever I come across an image of a luster glazed piece from Wood I am in awe. So, I decided to take the trip to Ojai to see her work first hand. The center itself is inspiring situated in picturesque rolling hills. They offer regular exhibition schedule, there are artist workshops and performances. I will defiantly be returning for a glazing workshop this year.
